COG - Crowbar Birthday Week...
Fancy sharing more space with Cog in 2024?
Following their acclaimed East Coast run earlier this year, the revered Australian rockers are proud to announce the continuation of The Vinyl Tour, with Cog set to close out 2024 taking their live show to regional Victoria, New South Wales and Western Australia this October and November, as well as an appearance for Crowbar Sydney's birthday week.
As part of The Vinyl Tour Continued, Cog will kick off proceedings on Friday 4 October in Frankston, before heading to Torquay, Byron Bay, Bunbury, Margaret River and Fremantle, and will also jump up on the hallowed stage of Crowbar Sydney on Friday 29 November for the venue's inaugural birthday celebrations. Renowned as one of the country's consummate live acts, the tour will see Cog continue the celebrations of the long-awaited release of their seminal albums The New Normal (2005) and Sharing Space (2008) on vinyl for the first time ever, as well as the first pressing of their compilation record Just Visiting (2008).
Cog will also be joined by some very special guests later this year, with The Sea Benz set to support in Frankston, Torquay and Byron Bay, Yomi Ship supporting in Bunbury and Margaret River, Yomi Ship and Primrose Path in Fremantle, and Hammers joined by Primrose Path in Sydney.
"After the success of the initial shows early in the year we are stoked to add seven more shows to The Vinyl Tour continued." - Cog
Emerging in the late 90s, Cog's enduring legacy on the heavy music landscape has traversed decades, global touring and a jubilant reunion back in 2016. Via their early EPs, 2000's Pseudo and part one and part two of 2002's Just Visiting, the behemoth reputation of the Sydney-hailing trio would firmly cement in 2005 in the form of their debut full-length The New Normal. From here, Cog took the world by storm, relentlessly touring Australia, embarking on overseas runs, igniting stages at Big Day Out, Falls Festival and Homebake, alongside adding a stellar second album release to their repertoire in the form of the certified Gold 2008 opus Sharing Space.
Never ones to rest on their laurels, Cog emerged from a five year hiatus in 2016, with an entirely sold out comeback tour across Australia that same year - and some new music soon followed in 2018 via the band's first new material in a decade: The Middle. From here, Cog have continued to expand their creative spirit, releasing two additional singles, Altered States and Drawn Together, while also remaining active on the touring circuit, including headlining Thrashville and The Other Festival in 2023.
Reaching a milestone in 2023, Cog's long road to finally releasing their albums on vinyl spanned a 15 year uphill battle, with the group locked into a contract and awaiting resolution ever since delivering Sharing Space to their label in 2008. Now armed with complete ownership of the rights to all of their music, the pressing of Cog's sonic legacy onto vinyl also sparked a huge headline run earlier this year, with the trio's East Coast round of The Vinyl Tour in March wowing crowds in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Newcastle, Canberra and Sydney, with the majority of shows sold out.
Exclusively through Rare Records, The New Normal and Sharing Space are now available pressed on 3 x 180g vinyl, housed in deluxe triple gatefold sleeves, with a range of variants and vinyl combinations on offer.
