The undisputed godfather of underground rock, Bob Mould, finally returns to Australia for the first time since 2012! The US singer-songwriter-guitarist-bandleader extraordinaire will play three exclusive shows in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane this November and December.
The former frontman of Hüsker Dü and Sugar, Bob Mould has forged a successful solo career and cemented his status as one of the undisputed forefathers of alternative rock,. With 15 solo studio albums under his belt, Bob has explored multitudes of sounds from guitar-driven rock to electronic dance music. Tackling topics like trauma, sexuality and political upheaval, Bob Mould has always approached music with unmatched tenacity and passion. The 2011 Walt Disney Concert Hall Tribute show for Bob Mould saw musicians such as Dave Grohl and Ryan Adams come together to celebrate his remarkable career.
Born in New York, Bob picked up a guitar in his teens and kicked off his musical journey in the hardcore punk scene. Founding the renowned Minneapolis punk band Hüsker Dü in 1979, Bob rode their wave of commercial success until the band’s breakup in 1988. Bob Mould launched his solo career with a bang in 1989 with Workbook. The record spent 14 weeks on the charts, with “See A Little Light” becoming a Top Ten modern rock hit.
Bob went on to form Sugar in 1992, with their debut album Copper Blue becoming his most successful project to date. He returned to his solo work after Sugar broke up in 1992 and hasn’t looked back since. He has played countless festival slots and toured extensively on an international scale, playing alongside the like of the Foo Fighters and The Hold Steady
