Carl Orr Band

Guitarist/composer Carl Orr is now living back in his hometown of Adelaide after 28 years on the vibrant London music scene. While living in the UK he performed with finest musicians in the world including Billy Cobham George Duke, Ernie Watts, Randy Brecker, Gary Husband, Bennie Maupin and Pee Wee Ellis. He did over 300 gigs at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club where he jammed onstage with the likes of Mike Stern and Marcus Miller; Jeff Beck heard Carl at Ronnie’s a couple of times and enjoyed what he heard. In 2018 he played guitar on the UK tour of Sting’s show ‘The Last Ship”. 

Carl has taught guitar at The Australian Institute of Music, Brunel University and Middlesex University. 

A prolific composer,Carl has recorded ten albums of mostly original music, the latest being his solo guitar album "Bordertown Sunrise”. He is also featured on albums by Billy Cobham, Sean Wayland, Dale Barlow, Wanderlust and Nathan Haines.In 2017 he was inducted into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame. His “Seeking Spirit” album was runner up for Best Jazz Album in the 1991 ARIA Awards and his song “Until” cowritten with Renee Geyer, was runner up for “Best Jazz Composition” in the 1996 APRA Awards.

Carl will performing a set of his tuneful original compositions , combining jazz with funk, rock and world music. He will be joined onstage by Matt McMahon (keyboards), Steve Hunter (bass) and Gordon Rytmeister (drums).
