Russell Morris, an iconic figure in Australian music, is renowned for his 1969 psychedelic hit “The Real Thing,” which became a defining moment in the nation’s rock history. Over the decades, Morris has showcased his versatility, transitioning from pop stardom to blues storytelling with his acclaimed trilogy: Sharkmouth, Van Diemen’s Land, and Red Dirt – Red Heart. These works delve into Australia’s rich tapestry of characters and events, earning him critical acclaim and solidifying his legacy as a masterful songwriter . 

In 2025, Morris embarks on his Farewell Tour, marking the culmination of a career spanning nearly six decades. Accompanied by a 13-piece All-Star Band, the tour promises a comprehensive showcase of his musical journey, blending classic hits with orchestral arrangements. The tour includes performances at prestigious venues across Australia, offering fans a final opportunity to experience his live artistry .   

Beyond his solo endeavors, Morris has collaborated with notable artists and participated in projects like The Fabulous Caprettos, demonstrating his enduring relevance in the music scene. His contributions have been recognized with inductions into the ARIA Hall of Fame and the Australian Songwriters Hall of Fame, underscoring his significant impact on Australia’s cultural landscape.
