Dr Jane Goodall

Dr Jane Goodall is an English ethologist and activist and one of the world’s foremost experts on chimpanzees. Goodall first went to Gombe Stream National Park in Tanzania to observe its chimpanzees in 1960. Her studies made the ground breaking discovery that humans were not the only species to make and modify tools. The work she began continues to this day as one of the longest longitudinal studies of any species on earth.

Dr Goodall is one of the very few people accepted into a PhD program without an undergraduate degree. She is considered the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees, after 60 years studying the social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees.

After a long absence brought on by the COVID pandemic, Goodall, 89, is delighted to be returning to Australia and New Zealand to meet with her supporters and share her reasons for hope in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland.

The shows will be a presentation and lecture from Dr Jane Goodall and will include an audience Q & A segment along with a fireside conversation with a moderator.

“I love Australia and New Zealand with its rich biodiversity and proud First Nations heritage”, she said. “It will be tremendous to catch up with old friends and meet some of the young leaders making a difference through Roots & Shoots”.
