The show will celebrate all the on and off field misbehaviour, controversy, villainy, treachery and pantomime that makes Rugby League - The Greatest Game Of All! Even before this season began, there was a lot - from play fights ending in court, to the RLPA flexing their muscle, to the return of Wayne. And there’s sure to be the usual array of coach sackings, crackdowns, lockdowns, bunker bungles, barbecues, oven bells and questionable haircuts. Plenty of new songs and new characters, along with a few old favourites that have made this show a cult hit.
 
For those who came in late, Rugby League The Musical contends that The Greatest Game of All has all the elements to make it The Greatest Musical of All - except music. Carnahan just adds the music. He doesn’t have to make up the stories, because Rugby League’s narrative is way more creative, theatrical and far-fetched than any music theatre librettist would dare to write. The result is a hilarious mix of musical satire, parody, sketch comedy and stand up comedy presented as a cabaret, complete with complementary half time oranges.
 
Producer/performer Denis Carnahan has been writing sports parody songs for almost two decades, starting with The Footy Show and moving on to Fox Sports, The Matty Johns Show and Triple M’s Grill Team, as well as for various club presentations and functions. For the past three years he’s written a song every week of the footy season about the goings on in the rugby league in “Denis Carnahan’s Song Of The Week” which go to air on ABC Sport every Sunday.
